Who we are & scope

In this policy, "the trust", "we", "us", and "our" mean the Samyak Gyan Prachar Prasar Trust. "You" means any visitor, student, scholar, applicant, donor, or other person who interacts with us.

This policy covers the website at sgpt.in and the trust's sub-domains (such as academy, jobs, blog, patrika, e-library, and donate). Some sub-domains and third-party services we use may have their own privacy notices; where that is the case, those notices also apply to your use of them.

Information we collect

We only collect information that you choose to give us or that is needed to provide our services. This may include:

• Information you provide directly — your name, email address, phone number, city/institution, and the contents of any message when you use our contact form, register for a workshop, apply for an internship, financial assistance, accommodation, career counselling, or a job, or write to us by email or WhatsApp.
• Application & program details — academic background, area of study, and any supporting information you share so we can consider your request.
• Donation information — details needed to process and acknowledge a donation and to issue receipts (donation payments are handled by our payment partner — see §7).
• Technical information — basic, non-identifying data your browser sends automatically, such as device and browser type, approximate region, and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and working.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information beyond what a particular program genuinely requires.

How we use information

We use the information you give us to:

• respond to your inquiries and route them to the right person at the trust;
• review and administer applications for workshops, internships, financial assistance, accommodation, counselling, and jobs;
• communicate with you about a program, application, or event you have engaged with;
• process donations and issue receipts and the related tax acknowledgements;
• operate, maintain, and improve our website and services; and
• meet our legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations as a registered charitable trust.

Why we may contact you

We contact you about the specific matter you raised with us — for example, a reply to your message, the status of an application, or confirmation of a donation. We do not sell your details, and we do not send promotional bulk email without your consent. Where we keep you informed about a program you have joined, you can ask us to stop at any time.

Cookies & analytics

Our website is a simple, static site. We use only essential cookies or similar storage needed for the site to function (for example, remembering your language choice). If we use a privacy-respecting analytics service to understand which pages are useful, it is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not stop you from reading the site.

How we share information

We treat your information as confidential. We do not sell, rent, or trade it. We share it only:

• with trustees, staff, and authorised volunteers of the trust who need it to act on your request;
• with service providers who help us operate (such as our website host, email provider, and payment partner), who may use it only to provide that service to us;
• where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a government authority; and
• to protect the rights, safety, and property of the trust, our beneficiaries, or others.

Donations & payments

Donations are made through our donation portal at donate.sgpt.in. Card, UPI, and bank payment details are processed by a third-party payment gateway and are not stored by the trust. We keep only the records we need to acknowledge your gift, issue a receipt, and meet our reporting duties as a 12A-registered charitable trust.

Sub-domains & external links

Our site links to trust sub-domains — Academy, Jobs, Blog/News, Patrika, E-Library, and Donate — and sometimes to external websites. Linked third-party sites and any service that runs on a sub-domain operate under their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites we do not control. Please review their notices before sharing information with them.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, and we serve the website over a secure (HTTPS) connection. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We keep your information only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, to maintain our records as a charitable trust, and to meet legal and accounting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Your rights & choices

You may, at any time, ask us to:

• confirm what personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
• delete information we no longer need to keep; or
• stop contacting you about a program.

To make a request, write to info@sgpt.in. We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children's privacy

Our programs may serve students, including minors, who apply with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or institution. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us information without such consent, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
